Mrs. Grace Lane Robinson, 94, wife of the late Lavon "Spec" Robinson, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family at her home in Kingstree, SC.
"Miss Grace" was born October 23, 1927, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Joseph Eston Lane and Sadie Duke Lane. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and worked in The Kiddie Shop with "Miss Chelsea" Gamble for twenty-one years. Miss Grace was a long time Williamsburg County employee, working in the Clerk of Court's office as Family Court Administrator and later in the Tax Assessor's office. Miss Grace retired when she was 91 1/2 years old. She was a dedicated member of the Kingstree Pilot Club for fifty years, serving in all capacities and offices. She served as the Regional District Treasurer in the South Carolina Pilot Club and was the recipient of numerous awards. In 2013, Miss Grace was named Citizen of the Year by the Williamsburg HomeTown Chamber. Miss Grace enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, usually playing with two groups of ladies each week. She was a member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Turbeville, SC.
Surviving Mrs. Robinson are: three daughters, Sandra J. Harrington of Columbia, Brenda Woods of Kingstree, and Linda (Talmadge) Tobias of Sumter, SC; two sons, Charles (Maria Torres) Robinson of Cayce, SC and Kevin (Denise) Robinson of Sumter, SC; daughter-in-law Margaret Harrington, of Kingstree; seven grandchildren, James "Byron" (Dawn) Phillips, III of Sumter, Susan (Jeff) Bouknight of Lexington, Sherri (Eddie) Wahdan of Lexington, Rod Harrington of Lexington, Kelly (Greg) Settlemyre of Rutherfordton, NC, Scott Tobias of Morgantown, WV, and Karisse Robinson of Sumter; nine great-grandchildren, Josh Brunson, Jeremy (Paige) Brunson, Jenna Brunson, Connor Settlemyre, James Byron Phillips IV, Caleb Wahdan, Ethan Wahdan, Kassidy and Ryan Harrington and their mother, Maria Harrington; three great-great-grandchildren, Trystan Brunson, Mason Brunson, and Mila Brunson; a sister, Carolyn Lane McConnell; a brother, Joseph Eston Lane, Jr.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband "Spec", Miss Grace was preceded in death by her son Steve Harrington, sons-in-law Raymond Woods and James Byron Phillips II, great grandson, Jacob Brunson; her first husband, Samuel Harrington and siblings, Miriam Lane McCain, Emory Neil Lane, Lloyd Rudolph Lane, Charles Leon Lane, Marguerite Lane Young, Thella Mae Lane Kennedy, and Cathryn Lane Frierson.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree with burial at Midway Evangelical Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New Zion. Miss Grace's family will receive friends 5 to 7 PM Monday at Williamsburg Funeral Home.
