Grace Mercedes Gause , 73 Jul 3, 1947 - Mar 1, 2021 Grace Mercedes Gause, 73 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday March 1, 2021 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Born in Staten Island, NY on July 3, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Michael Mauro and Rose Marinelli Seminara.
She graduated high school in 1965 in Staten Island, NY and graduated nursing school in Lynchburg, VA where she received her LPN. She was employed for many years as a nighttime supervisor with Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro, MD.
Grace loved softball and in her early years she played semi-pro ball, played in the YMCA Women's Softball League in Hagerstown, and coached middle school softball. Grace also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing bingo, spending time at the casino, vacationing at the ocean, and cooking. Meatballs and Italian food were her specialty. Her grandchildren meant everything to her.
Grace is survived by her husband Robert S. "Bob" Gause whom she married on July 7, 1979, a daughter Michelle R. Kibler and her husband William, III of Middletown, DE, a daughter Julia A. McGlaughlin-Wiles and her husband Daniel of Greencastle, PA, a step-daughter Jenny L. Gay and her husband Shannon of Funkstown, MD, a step-daughter Becky L.E. Gause of Hagerstown, MD, a brother John Seminara of Frederick, MD, a brother James Seminara of Sharpsburg, MD, grandchildren Desiree Giffin, Dmitry Kibler, Kylie McGlaughlin, and Luke McGlaughlin, and her beloved dog Francie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a very special grandmother Julia Marinelli.
The Gause family would like to extend a special thanks to the University of Maryland Medical Center and their staff for their loving care and efforts during Grace's final days as well as a special thanks to Kate Smith, CRNP at Meritus Medical Group in Hagerstown.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
