Gordon Morgan Hobbs

Gordon Morgan Hobbs, of Waxhaw, NC, formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away August 12, 2022.

Gordon joined the United States Army when he graduated from high school and served in post WWII Germany and attended classes at Heidelberg University. He later graduated from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN and the University of Virginia Law School, Charlottesville, VA. He began his career after law school with the Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers and retired from the Pentagon in January 1991 as Assistant for Real Estate in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations and Logistics.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Jones Hobbs, two daughters, Bonnie Leigh Hobbs and her husband, Marshall Horowitz of San Marino, CA, and Amy Leigh Davis and her husband, Gordon, of Charlotte, NC, four grandchildren, Hannah and Justin Horowitz of CA and Morgan and Amanda Davis of NC. Gordon had two brothers and one sister, Dr. Herman H. Hobbs of Arlington, VA, deceased, Helen Rayle of Loveland, OH and CD Hobbs of Clinton, UT.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Graceway Baptist Church, 4700 Weddington Road, Matthews, NC 28104, 704-846-2422. Burial at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia at 2:00pm August 17, 2022.
