Golden Graves Gillespie, 91, went to be with here Eternal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born August 1, 1931 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Mann Graves and Flora Goode Graves. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother, was a member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed raising her family, cooking big family meals and porch sitting to talk to neighbors. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Camilus Gillespie, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Pattie Ann Payne Gillespie and her sister and brother-in-law, Nettie Francis and Elmer Calhoun.
Survivors include two sons: David Allan Gillespie and Steven Craig Gillespie; four grandchildren: Phillip Craig (Bridgette) Gillespie, Michelle Kimberly (Robert) Keith, Patrick Lee-Allan (Savannah) Gillespie and Trisha Kay (Wesley) Douglas and nine great-grandchildren: Claudia Douglas, Ian, Eli, Taylor, Jackson, and Noah Gillespie, Brynn Simpson, Bristol and Bailey Keith.
Funerals services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rick Bolton officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Robert Keith, Wes Douglas, Phillip Gillespie, Patrick Gillespie, Jackson Gillespie, Randall Smith, Bentley Jones and Henry Peavler serving as pallbearers and Ray Allen Graves, Michael Graves, Debbie Smith Lanham, Angela Smith Cartwright and Jennifer Smith serving as honorary pallbearers.
