Godfrey (Goff) M. Lebhar, II, 86, of Vero Beach, FL., passed away on August 2, 2020. Goff was born on March 29, 1934, in New York City and grew up in New Rochelle, NY. Goff graduated from Syracuse University with a Business Administration Degree. He was active in the Men's Varsity basketball team and was captain of the tennis team. He also served as the prior President of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. Goff spent six months at Fort Benning where was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. He served in Korea for 16 months where he received the rank of First Lieutenant. Goff had a long career in the broadcasting field. He began his career in 1957 in West Palm Beach, FL as an Account Executive at WEAT AM radio and two years later became the Sales Manager at WEAT Radio and Television. In 1967 Goff moved to Washington, D.C. where he became the Sales Manager at WDCA-TV until 1969. From 1969 thru 1971 he was the General Sales Manager at WGMS AM/FM in Washington, D.C. and from 1971 thru 1973 he was the General Sales Manager at WOR FM in New York, NY. In 1973 Goff became the General Manager at WQAL FM in Cleveland, OH; where he turned the station from the lowest to the highest-rated station in the market. Then in 1975, they gave him the responsibility of running WJMD FM in Washington, D.C. In his last year, he was given the added responsibility of running KRLY in Houston, TX. Goff ended his career from 1981 until retirement in 1998 as President and General Manager of WWDC AM and DC101 FM in Washington, D.C. Throughout that period the station's ratings and sales increased dramatically. Goff retired when the company was sold. Goff was a Life Master in Bridge. At a very young age, followed his father, a famous broadcaster who would broadcast under the name of Bert Lee and under his real name Bertram Lebhar, was general manager of WHN which became WMGM. Goff leaves two sons- Jeff and Scott, as well as a daughter, Laura Swenson, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind Yipsy, who was the love of his life and enabled him to live longer than expected. He will be remembered as a very competitive athlete and broadcaster who did tell it like it is.
