Gloria J. Mundt-Wood of Memphis, Tennessee formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died June 6, 2023 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee.
Gloria was born in Fort Wayne Indiana on September 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Frank and Irene Hardendorf.
She graduated from South Side High School in 1943 and continued her education at Western Michigan College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Mrs. Mundt-Wood retired in 1929 after 32 years as Executive Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of Perfection Bakeries, Inc. Also retired in 1988 after 19 years as Executive Director of the Educational Foundation IOOF and lastly retired in 2009 after 10 years as Office Assistant for John F. Popp Associates.
She was the Past President International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, traveling to each of the United States; all provinces of Canada; Australia and New Zealand, also Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Holland. The Past President, Rebekah Assembly of Indiana, receiving the Meritorious Service Jewel in 1979, Past President of the Women of the Elks Lodge No. 155, receiving the Distinguished Citizenship Award from the Grand Lodge Order of the Elks in 2005.
Gloria was a member of Concordia Rebekah Lodge No 41 IOOF, Harmony Lodge No. 19 IOOF, Women of the Elks Lodge No. 155 all of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was an associate member of Ruth Rebekah Lodge No. 1 and Chickasaw IOOF Lodge No. 8 in Bartlett, Tennessee and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Cordova, Tennessee.
She is survived by nieces Carolyn Stearnes, Patricia Bryant, Jill Young, Diane Dunagan and many great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews in Memphis, Tennessee. Gloria was preceded in death by first husband Henry Mundt in 1981, brother Burt Hardendorf in 2003, and second husband Jack Wood in 2010.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 10 beginning at nine o'clock in the morning until funeral services begin at ten o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119 with a reception to follow the service. Burial will take place next week on Tuesday, June 13 in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana starting at two o'clock in the afternoon.
