It's with great sadness that at 8:49 June 5th, 2022, we announce the passing of Gloria Jean (Sulek) Hudak. She was born in 1942 to her parents Adolph and Lillian Sulek in Warren Ohio, and lived her early life in a rural farming community.
In her early years, she lived with her parents and extended family in Lockwood, Ohio, in a family run hotel and post office. Eight years later her parents built a home in North Bloomfield, Ohio, on the Sulek family farm. She lived a tough, rural, mid western life. In her alone time she developed a love for music and learned to play the organ. She was an excellent organist and began playing the organ professionally at a local roller skating rink in her teenage years. In high school she was a member of a four lady singing group called the Golden Notes. Music brought a lot of joy to her life. She studied at Youngstown State University at the Dana School Of Music.
In her high school years she met her husband of 58 years while he was serving in the United States Air Force. An Air Force Chaplin said they would never make it. She and her husband lived an adventurous life and traveled both abroad and around the United States with a unique fondness for New York City and Yacht Haven (Fort Lauderdale, Fl). They settled in Smyrna Georgia and raised their son and daughter.
While raising her children, she went back to college and earned a teaching degree from Georgia State University. She achieved her Georgia teaching certificate beginning a 32 year career shaping the minds of young people in Cobb County Georgia. During her teaching journey she impacted many lives with many former students still remembering her fondly today and crediting her with guiding them into a teaching career path.
She is survived by husband Joseph M Hudak Jr., children Ann Marie West, Joseph (Kathryn) Hudak III; Her sister Deborah (Fred) Tuck; Grandchildren Jeremy Hudak and Bridgette Hudak; Nieces Stephanie Tuck and Victoria Tuck.
The family asks that in leu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her name. A memorial service will be held at a later date and details will be released closer to time.
