Weatherford, Texas - Gloria Frances Strickland Curry departed for Heaven on December 18, 2022, exactly 74 years after she married Ray Cornelius Curry. Gloria was born in 1930, elected Football Queen at Putnam High School in 1946, and graduated in 1947 from Cross Plains High School. She was a homemaker while her daughters were young, learning to sew and to cook masterfully. We cherish the gifts she made and our memories of family meals, especially during the holidays.
As a committed member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, Gloria sang in the choir and volunteered with the Senior Adult Choir. She was retired from her staff position at Hardin-Simmons University. Gloria was a loving friend and family member known for her hospitality, hard work, and kindness.
Preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and "Melody" Strickland, husband Ray Curry, brother Jack Strickland, and other dear family members, Gloria is survived by her sister, Jeanna Vaughn and family, sister-in-law, Bobbie Strickland and family, daughter, Debra (and husband, Jeff) Feuerbacher of Weatherford, TX, daughter, Taina Curry of Missoula, MT, and three granddaughters, Deanna, Evie, and Heidi.
The family will have a private memorial, so we request only thoughts and prayers. Thank you to those who helped us care for her in later years and brought joy to her life.
