Glenn Curtis Larsen, 81, of Gaylord, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021.
He was born to Alfred and Norma (Sorensen) Larsen on July 9, 1940, in Johannesburg, Michigan. Glenn attended Johannesburg High School, graduating in 1958, and then attended Ferris State College where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. His work career with Dow Chemical started in July 1963 in Midland, Michigan. The following September he married the love of his life, Joan Burzynski. He had many accounting roles at Dow, but the one he was most proud of was the Financial Forecaster and Business Analyst for the AgroSciences division. Glenn and Joan were members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Midland and he spent 9 years on the Diocese of Saginaw Finance Council. He also served on the Midland County Literacy Council. He retired in January 1995, and they returned to Gaylord to enjoy their golden years. Glenn had great enthusiasm for hunting, fishing, and golfing. But above all, he enjoyed family and a good card game. He was known as the scorekeeper for the pinochle games.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alfred Jr (Donna), James (Alice), Robert (Maggie), Norm (Barb), David, Elaine (Joe) Schmidt, and Christy (Jerry) Amthor.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Mark (Ren?e) and Julie (Mark) Cavanaugh, both of Midland Michigan; four grandsons, Josh (Melissa), Keith, Connor, & Gabe, and two great-grandchildren, Amaiah, & Kasen along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews; brother, Terry (Nancy) of Gaylord Michigan. He is also survived by Dolores Zaremba, sister Barbara Burzynski, and Floyd (Susan) Burzynski, all in-laws.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, 606 N. Ohio Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow mass at Resurrection Cemetery, 121 Winters Road, Gaylord, MI 49735.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being offered by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
