Glenn Owen Coleman, beloved husband, brother, father, stepfather, grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Nov. 26, 2021.
Glenn was born in Jamaica, NY on August 25, 1948 and raised in Richmond Hill, NY where he attended grade school and high school. He played basketball and enjoyed playing pool with his friends.
He served proudly on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1971. He was initially assigned to Loring Air Force Base near Limestone, ME where he worked gate security and secured aircraft for Strategic Air Command B-52 bombers.
From May 1969 to May 1970, he was stationed at U-Tapao Air Base in Thailand where he worked to support the country's Vietnam War effort again working in aircraft security. He was also on the volunteer list as a door gunner for helicopter missions.
When Glenn came home after his military tours, he settled "out east" on Long Island starting a family and raising a son. It's here where he began his long career working as a Cargo Agent for Japan Airlines (JAL) at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens NY. He worked hard there for 27 years.
In 1976, Glenn remarried to Diane "Dee" (DiGianno) Dennis and became a stepfather to two more boys. When he wasn't proudly working and grabbing all the overtime at JAL he could to help support his family, Glenn was helping cart around all three sons to various sporting and school events as well as to and from social engagements.
He also helped create a beautiful property in Holbrook, NY with a backyard patio, barbecue and pool. Many a family party was held here and all enjoyed their time hanging out with the Colemans on Bradford Place.
For a time, Glenn and Dee also owned property in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. Tending to their piece of heaven in the woods and spending time at Eagle Lake created fun memories that his family, including his parents Velma and Luther, would cherish for the rest of their lives.
As Glenn headed toward retirement, he and Dee moved to a slower life in Derry, NH. Glenn enjoyed candlepin bowling with friends and cribbage/cards with his wife in their back den/game room.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Velma and Luther Coleman as well as by one brother Herb. He is survived by his wife Dee, brother Wayne, a son Jim Coleman and his wife Michele, two stepsons Mike Dennis and his wife Adrianne and Gary Dennis and his wife Shelly, four grandchildren Jake and Flynn Dennis and Alexander and Katherine Coleman, niece Debbie Turturro and her husband Nick, niece Christine Baboukis and her husband Nick, one nephew Dennis Coleman and three great-nieces and great-nephews Lea and Nicky Turturro and Patrick Coleman.
