Glenda McAvoy, age 75, of Bloomington, IN passed away March 14, 2020 at IU Health Hospice House, Bloomington IN. She was born October 6, 1944 in Alexandria Bay, NY to Madelyn L (Henry) and Donald G McAvoy of Clayton NY. She graduated from Clayton Central School and SUNY Potsdam with a degree in elementary education.
She was an educator who taught GED at the Summit (NY) Shock Facility and Drug Education for CASA of Schoharie County, NY. After moving to Bloomington, she taught Yoga and was a Career Counselor for the IU Kelley School of Business.
Glenda had an adventurous spirit. She loved her gardens, biking, walking and bird watching. She practiced Yoga, Tai Chi and was an avid lover of music and the arts. She volunteered often as an usher at various venues around Bloomington. Most of all, she loved her friends and being a friend to everyone she met - she never met a stranger.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Rexford Hunt of Bloomington, son Peter Pochily of New York, daughters Jennifer Bunao of Georgia, Katherine Wagoner (Josh) of Texas, brother Ronald McAvoy (Nora) of Texas, sisters Patricia McAvoy (Stewart) of California, Susan McAvoy of Washington, DC and grandchildren Jessica, Devin and Lucas Pochily of New York.
She was predeceased by her parents, husbands Robert J Pochily, Anthony K Koplik and nephew Charles McAvoy.
