Glen J. Strange, age 93 of the Tellico Village community, passed away on October 26, 2024. Glen was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee, August 21, 1931. Glen graduated from Maury High School in Dandridge, served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict, and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in business in 1957.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Molly Julian Strange of Dandridge, and an infant brother, James Murphy Strange, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy (Dot) Green Strange; son, Glen, Jr. (wife, Jennifer), of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Allison Keefer (husband, David) of Roswell, Georgia; grandson, Mitch Strange (wife, Meredith) of Nashville Tennessee; granddaughter, Kelley Shelton (husband, Hudson) of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Jacqueline Orrell (husband, Miles) of Mobile, Alabama; and Katelyn Evans (husband, Clinton) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Glen worked for the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), later to become Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and retired in 1986, after 30 years of government service as Director of Community Planning and Development for the state of Tennessee. He formed Glen Strange Real Estate Appraisal Service and retired from that business in 2001.
Glen and Dot moved to their home on the Tellico Lake in the Tellico Village community in Loudon County, Tennessee, in 1992, after living in the Farragut community for almost 30 years. They enjoyed traveling, visiting many of the states in this country, and many of the countries in Europe, Asia and South America. Over the last few years, he tended to want to stay home but continued to enjoy the boating and golfing available in the Village.
Graveside service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge, TN.
