Glen Ray Ivey passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. He was followed in death by his loving wife, Doris Gale Ivey, on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Glen and Gale were married on September 5, 1954 and had been married for 67 years. Memorial services will be officiated by Tom Heath, Senior Adult Pastor, of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 5:30-7:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Services will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Glen was born on January 9, 1931 in Marlow, Oklahoma where his family farmed and ranched. In 1952, Glen was drafted to the Korean War, where he served as an Army medic until 1954. Upon returning from the war, his family moved to Hale Center, Texas. It was in Plainview that he met Gale and they were married. Glen owned many businesses, including farming and ranching, Glen Ivey Plumbing, and Glen Ivey Construction and Real Estate. In 1986, Glen and son, Mark, opened Ivey Gardens Greenhouses as partners. Glen was also well known in West Texas as a country singer with radio shows, records and entertaining. He also entertained Military Troops on ships and radio while serving in Korea. Glen served as a deacon at Bacon Heights Baptist Church and was very involved in the early construction of BHBC. Glen had a strong faith, loved the Lord, and lived out this faith in his daily life. Gale was born in Plainview, Texas on October 12, 1931. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1950. Gale loved being a mom and wife and her husband and 2 children were her focus in life. Later, she went to work and excelled as a very successful realtor. She also was involved in the family businesses for many years, including Ivey Gardens. Gale was very active and loved her involvement at Bacon Heights Baptist Church where she was the pianist for years. Gale also loved the Sonshiner Choir where she was also the pianist for the choir when they first started. One of her greatest passions was her study and teaching of the Book of Revelation. She gathered many teachings on the subject of Revelation and compiled it in a book that she freely gave to others so they would understand the importance of the end times. She also had a passion and loved reading the Bible, but her greatest passion was teaching her grandchildren about Jesus. Glen and Gale are both survived by son, Mark Ivey, and wife, Anne, of Lubbock, and daughter, Cheryl Soucy, of Mount Pleasant. They are also survived by five grandchildren; Allen Ivey and wife, Ginger; Alisa Braly and husband, Scottie; Rebekah Irvine and husband, Marc; Brian Ivey and wife, Sara; and Drew Soucy; and ten great grandchildren. Glen and Gale entered through Heaven's Gates days apart from each other. Our family is joyful in knowing that Glen and Gale are healed, rejoicing, and in the presence of the Savior. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com for the Ivey family.
