Funeral service for Glen Earl Goodin, age 85, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
Glen was born on April 18, 1935 in Kinston, AL to the late Arthur Curtis and Mamie Etta Powell Goodin. One day after earning his Bachelors Degree from Auburn University, he was drafted to serve in the United States Army National Guard during the Berlin crisis. Glen worked for Boeing in Huntsville and was the purchaser for the Saturn V rocket fuel. He also served as a University Research Administrator for the University of Alabama at Huntsville and was Vice President of Texas A&M Research Foundation. Glen was an avid Auburn basketball and football fan. He also loved attending UAH basketball games. In addition to supporting his Tigers, he loved to hunt and fish. Glen passed away on October 22, 2020 at Lincoln Medical Center.
Survivors include his daughters, Melanie Goodin and Mandy Goodin of Fayetteville; brother, Arvel (Martha) Goodin of Dothan, AL; nieces and nephews, Earl (Karen) King, Becky King, Monetta (Eddie) Reyes, Rick (Michele) Dobson, Julia Robertson, Sally (Mark) Temple, Anna (Alan) Pearce, Carmen (Steve) Pearce, and Matthew (Courtney) Goodin; and special friends, Mary Summerlin and Valerie Seaquist. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Edna "Gay" Jennings Goodin; and siblings, Landa Goodin, Jean King, Emmie Smith, and Christine Dobson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 Elk Avenue, North, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
