Next time you hear the saying "he who laughs last," think of our Gilly. The man, the myth, and the legend was born on December 30, 1968 in McAllen, Texas to Saul and Margaret Saenz. There, he could be found riding his Harley, getting back from the ranch, and being the life of every party. Of all his wisdom, "He who laughs last is Gilly Gil" was one of his favorite.
When he was 19, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the Persian Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm and carried his brotherhood with him wherever he went. He spent the rest of his life amongst his friends and family, who helped him raise his three kids, who he also took pride in. He had the brightest spirit, hard to define, and yet a piece of it will be carried on through his parents, three kids, two grandchildren, and two sisters. He also left behind a niece and nephew, cousins and dozens of extended family and friends.
He died peacefully in his home on September 16, 2022 at 53 years old. He lived with so much honor, the most contagious laugh, and pride in all his loved ones' achievements. He left behind so many dreams, all of which live on in them. Rest in peace, our Gilly Gil.
