Gerhard Kresse passed away on January 6, 2022, age 77, in Lawrenceville, GA, where he resided since 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Kresse, daughters Brenda Kresse and Cynthia (Eric) Lancaster; son Joe Kresse and two grandchildren, Hailey Kressee and Hayden Kresse, and by his sister, Ingrid (Dennis) Saunders. He was preceded in death by his parents Eduard and Agnes Kresse, and his brother, Wolfgang Kresse.
Gerhard was born in Gottschee and came to the US with his family at the age of 5 to grow up in Ridgewood, NY. He settled to raise a family in the Binghamton, NY area. He served in the Air Force as a Structural Aircraft Mechanic. After many years of employment with GAF/Anitec/International Paper, he retired and served as commander at the Binghamton, NY, American Legion Post 1305 for several years.
Gerhard will always be remembered as someone who loved to debate and jest with everyone. He worked hard to make sure his family had fun, happy memories growing up and could succeed in their lives.
He will be missed by many family, friends, and his devoted wife.
A memorial for him will be arranged later this year in the Broome County, NY area.
