Tom M. Wages
Geraldine Maxcy, age 95, of Buford, GA passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. She is survived by her sons, Joseph "Don" (Karen) Maxcy and Larry (Clara) Maxcy; sister, Joanne Hinton; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Plennie and Dollie Cox Johnson; husband, Joseph Maxcy and step-daughters, Joann and Diane. Geraldine was born in Lawrenceville and graduated from Lawrenceville High School, which is now Central Gwinnett High School. She worked with the FAA and Red Cross. She moved to Florida in 1956 and began working in the legal field. She was under the secretary to John F. Kennedy's secretary. In 2003 she moved back to her home state of Georgia. Geraldine was a member of several Civic organizations. She loved going to church and praising God. She was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church where she made several friends who became her "church family." Geraldine was an accomplished woman who spent much time and many years serving her community. She was a loving, devoted, and caring, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed. A memorial service honoring the life of Geraldine will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Rock Springs United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Condolences may be sent to or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
