Geraldine Faith Perry, 89, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN. She was born January 5, 1930 in Michigamme, MI to William and Flora (Lacosse) Farragh. She was married to William Perry in 1949, experienced the birth and death of her first son, William, Jr., in 1953 and nurtured her second son, Stephen, back to health after being born with medical complications in 1956.
She moved to Mantorville, MN in 1992 when her husband was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and lived there until moving to the nursing home in Chatfield in 2017. She lived through many challenges, but always managed to find the light, joy and celebration. In fact, after being hospitalized after a fall, she focused on the fact that she had the "blood pressure of a teenager".
During her years as a widow in Mantorville, she became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a devoted lefse maker. She traveled to Norway with church friends, played cards for nickels at the Senior Citizen Center and presided over her homeowners' association at Marigold Manor. In her final years, she became the queen of the care center, flashing her smile for the camera during all the social events and regularly being recognized in the Chatfield newspaper for her joyful nature. She graced everyone she met with a smile and a positive outlook.
Left to carry on her legacy are her son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Michele of Chatfield; granddaughter Kristin of Mantorville; grandson Kurt and his wife Faith of St. Michael, MN; two great-grandsons, Henry and Elliot; her baby brother Jimmy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her first child, two sisters (Bella and Betty) and brother Howard.
Gerry will be remembered for her generous smile, her contagious laugh, her unwavering hope and her ability to be the light of the party! And because she was always a grateful person, she would want us to thank the kind and compassionate staff at Chosen Valley Care Center and Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt of St. John's, all of whom made her feel special and honored her for the beautiful qualities she so obviously embodied.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 7 at 1:30 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW, Kasson, MN with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to them for distribution according to their wishes.
Dibble Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Kasson is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.dibblefuneralhome.com.
