Geraldine Wilson Child, 97, of Findlay, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Primrose of Findlay. She was born in Fitchville, Ohio on October 10, 1921, to the late Harry E. and Thelma (Hunter) Wilson. On February 25, 1950, Geraldine married E. Tom Child and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2019.
She graduated from New London High School in New London, Ohio and the Oberlin School of Commerce. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Findlay, the William Shakespeare Club and the Bay View Association of the United Methodist Church.
Geraldine was a gracious skilled conversationalist. She was well read on current events and many other topics and was always prepared to discuss issues.
In her young adulthood, before marriage, she played the piano in a dance band. Geraldine had the amazing talent of being able to hear a song once and then play it by ear.
She was a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren. She took a sincere interest in the children's activities.
She was particularly skilled at Chinese Checkers. Many summer evenings were spent at the cottage in her beloved Bay View, MI., teaching her grandchildren, who all lived near her in the summer months, to play the game. For years, before bedtime, they visited her for spirited games. It was a very long time before any of them could win against her.
Surviving are her five daughters; Janet C. (Jon) Chism, Sue A. Child, Patricia C. (Tom) Graham, Mary A. Child and Nancy C. Moss. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Martin and Hunter Chism, Nathan and Trey Graham, and Elizabeth Moss Campbell.
Geraldine was preceded in death by two sisters, Madge Abahazi and Audrey Giovannazzo.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019 and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, followed by the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
