Geraldine E. Behrendsen

Geraldine E. "Gerry" ( Godby) Behrendsen, 88, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, September 30, 2022, at the Norwalk Memorial Home, in Norwalk, OH.

Born on April 18, 1934, in Zanesville, OH the daughter of Gerald Vincent and Golda Alma (Bell) Godby. She was a 1952 graduate of Zanesville High School and a 1956 graduate of Ohio University receiving her Bachelor Degree in Bio-Chemistry. Later she went on and graduated from Bowling Green State University with her Masters Degree. In her earlier years, Gerry had worked in the Lab at the Good Samaritan Hospital, in Sandusky for 15 years. She later entered the classroom and had taught 7th Grade Science in the Sandusky Public School System (Adams Junior High) for nearly 30 years, before retiring. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Gerry is survived by her son, Eric (Leslie) Behrendsen of Monroeville; her two sisters, Sally Allen and Kitty (Bill) Tyo, both of Zanesville, OH; also three sisters-in-law, Linda Godby of Zanesville, Betty Godby of Seminole, FL and Margie Godby of Zanesville, OH; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 13 years, Wayne E. Behrendsen (1970); a sister, Lori Godby: and her four brothers, Larry, John, Fred and Dave Godby.

It was her wish to have no services. Burial will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, in Huron, OH.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to the SouthernCare - Milan Hospice, 9501 US Hwy 250 N State 2, Milan, OH 44846 or to one's favorite charity.

Arrangements are entrusted to the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH.
