Gerald "Gary" W. Taylor, age 70, passed away October 2, 2021 from conditions of IPF. He was surrounded by his wife and children during his last days.
Gerald was born in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Wayne and Mary (nee: Habraken) Taylor. He was raised in Kent, Ohio and lived in Wadsworth, Ohio the past 30 years. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Gerald worked most of his life in the rubber and plastic industries and dedication over 30 years of employment with Myers Industries as an Engineer and Plant Manager before retiring in 2014. He also gave over 30 years of volunteering and dedication in the Society of Plastics Engineers organization, the Akron Section, holding many offices and roles.
His family was his biggest love, and every gathering and memory was moments he cherished. His love of family and friends was like no other. He was a loyal and loving man, and more courageous than he ever gave himself credit for. He was a role model and mentor, a friend and a gentle giant, a person who lived a humble and happy life.
His favorite hobbies were golfing, fishing, motorcycling (especially with his brothers), and was known for one of the best lawns in his neighborhood.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Taylor and his granddaughter, Quinn Elise Pfeiffer.
He leaves his wife of 30 years, Cathy (nee: Basinger) Taylor; daughters, Meghan (Steve) Pfeiffer, Chrissy Cikity; sons, Robert (Tara) Marr, and Christopher (Allison) Taylor, Thirteen grandchildren, Seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Gregory (Virginia) Taylor, Douglas (Holly) Taylor; sister MaryKay Domino; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Taylor.
The family will receive friends, tomorrow, MONDAY, October 11, 2021 from 5:00-7:30pm at Cox- McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High Street, Wadsworth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on TUESDAY at 11:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 260 Broad Street, Wadsworth, with Fr. Pat Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
