Gerald (Jerry) Steelman died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Minnetonka, MN on January 21, 2025, at the age of 86. Jerry was born on June 2, 1938, to Julius (Enoch) and Ann (Allie) Steelman. He lived with his family in Hopkins MN, graduating from Hopkins High school in 1956. In 1963, he married the love of his life Zona (Upton) Steelman. They built their life in Eden Prairie, MN and later moved to Minnetonka, MN. Together they had three children: Gordy, Sandy and Juli. His kids were the focal point of his life. He was a coach for his kids both on and off the field of play. An avid cheer leader for all his children's and grandchildren's adventures no matter what the activity. Jerry was a lifelong entrepreneur, shepherding many business adventures over his lifetime. To say Jerry had a passion for all things related to cars is an understatement. Jerry served in the Army Reserves from 1956-1964 and was among the first to be a part of the Eden Prairie Police Reserves in the early 1970's. Upon his semi-retirement Jerry and Zona enjoyed traveling all over the US in his 1946 Cadillac sedan. Their greatest adventure was driving that car to Alaska and back on a Classic Car tour. Jerry was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Zona, his parents Enoch and Allie, his brother Melvin. Jerry is survived by his children, Gordy (Paula), Sandy (Lori) and Juli. Grandchildren Cody and Josh (Alaina). Nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Kira and Morgan for the care that they gave Jerry till the very end and the Allina Hospice staff. A special thanks to the cardiology staff at Allina Heart Institute and his primary care doctor from North Memorial for their attentive care. A celebration of life will be held on February 1st at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Eden Prairie. Where Jerry was a member for over 60 years. Visitation will be at 10am with the service at 11 with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation.
