Gerald Boyd Rowland, 84, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, husband of Louise Alston Rowland, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Gerald was born on October 4, 1939 in Halifax County, North Carolina to the late Willie Rowland and Mary Hux Rowland. He graduated from Aurelian Springs School and then proudly served in the Navy for 2 years. After graduating from East Carolina University, Gerald began his career as an accountant for J.P. Stevens in both Roanoke Rapids and Greenville, SC. He joined Hardee's Food Systems in 1973 as a budget analyst, retiring as the Vice President of Finance and Comptroller after 20 years of dedicated service to the company. After retiring, he and Louise started RAC Services and spent over 20 years providing restaurant accounting services to franchises such as Papa John's Pizza. As well as being a loving husband, father, grandaddy and well-respected businessman, Gerald was a passionate and loyal fan of his East Carolina Pirates.
In addition to his wife Louise, Gerald is survived by his daughter Nicole Carman (Joseph) of Isle of Palms, SC, his grandchildren Brian Carman (Lindsey) and Macy Radcliff (Connor) of Charlotte, NC and his sister Susan Waters of Oxford, NC. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis Rowland.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 10 at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will host a reception at Hockaday Funeral Home immediately following the service.
