Gerald "Jerry" Robertson, loving husband and father, went to be with the lord on December 10th after suffering a heart attack.
Jerry was born Sept. 15th 1943 in Alton, Il. to Henry and Mary Robertson. He served in Vietnam with the 9th infantry, receiving two purple hearts and commendations for marksmanship.
In his 26 years of service on the Alton Fire Department he rose to the rank of assistant chief. Along the way he faced countless harrowing situations, made and lost great friends, was a mentor on the job (and in the kitchen), honed his ping pong skills, and saved many lives.
While he was proud of these accomplishments, his greatest strength was as a husband, father, and christian. To his wife Carolyn, who he married march 26th 1966, he gave his unending love, affection, and support. With his son Daniel, he shared his skills of hunting and fishing. In his son Jonathan he inspired creativity with the artistry of his upholstery work. As an Elder in his church, he offered his wisdom and leadership to the congregation. To everyone he gave an amazing example of how to walk through life on a path that is straight and true.
"He was a friend and mentor to many, for he was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith; and much people were added to the Lord." Acts 11:24
He was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Jack, and Johnny Robertson.
He is survived by his wife Caroyln, son Daniel and wife Tina (Cope) Robertson, son Jonathan and wife Courtney (Carr) Robertson, son Jeffery and wife Melia Lenhardt, grandaughter Heather Lynn "pinky" Robertson and her fiancee Corey Werner, grandson Daniel Jay Robertson jr, Andrew Lenhardt., his sister Marylin Tayler, and a whole herd of inlaws.
Services will be held at Port st Lucie Bible Church on Friday December 17th at 11:00am and proceed to Rolling Oaks cemetery for military honors and burial. Donations can be made in his name to veteran's and fireman's charities. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Funeral Home Stuart, Fl.
