Gerald Wilson Overdorff , 86 Aug 8, 1932 - Jun 14, 2019 Gerald (Jerry) Wilson Overdorff, 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed from this life, Friday, June 14, 2019, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born August 8,1932 in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Bert and Hazel (Wilson) Overdorff.
He was employed with Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, PA between the years of 1950 to 1962; and Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, MD, from 1962 to 1986, retiring after 25 years. Jerry was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown and the Maugansville Ruritan Club. He volunteered at the Hagerstown Community College, ARCC, Washington County Commission on Aging and also assisted in building ramps for the disabled, Habitat for Humanity, Western Maryland Hospital, REACH Cold Weather Shelter. Receiving special recognition for his community service from The Community Foundation of Washington County and received the 2013 Governor's Service Award for Lifetime Achievement.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathie Eccard, Sharon Wood (Al), and Rhonda Stouffer; son, Dean Overdorff (Sue); two sisters, Joan Shearer (Glenn) and Pat Baker (Bill); two brothers, Brian Overdorff and Donald Overdorff (Theresa); 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alanna Jeannine Overdorff; and sister, Jane Shannon and daughter, Lisa A. Mummert, son-in-law Dave Stouffer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
