Gerald was born December 16, 1931 in Canandaigua, NY to Lillian and Edward McGory and was the oldest of ten siblings. He was a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force, serving during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement, he settled in St. Petersburg in 1967 and started his second career as a teacher. Gerald was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1987. He is a beloved brother, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife, Greta; son Phillip David and brothers Donald and Lawrence "Butch". He is survived by his children Gerald L., Jo Ann Beal, Patrick and Timothy; siblings John (Marie), Fran (Jane), James, William (Gayle), Margaret Libertore, Ann (Edward) Coehlo and Edward (Barbara); many grandchildren; nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral mass on January 25th 9:30am at St. Jude Cathedral followed by burial at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Catholic Charities of St. Petersburg.
