Gerard (Jerry) Thomas McDermott, 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Jerry was born the middle of three children to Rose and Thomas McDermott in Philadelphia, PA on March 24, 1934. He worked as a machinist for over 25 years before retiring from Glaxo Smith Kline.
Jerry served in the US Army before meeting his wife, Beverly whom he married in 1960. They settled in New Jersey and went on to have four children; Linda, Gerard, Judith, and Marjorie. Upon retiring they moved to The Villages in "sunny Florida" where they enjoyed playing golf, numerous activities with their friends and most of all Jerry enjoyed being warm all year long. He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughters Linda, Judy and Marjorie and son Jerry, sister Bernadette Gregor, grandchildren Megan, David, Brooke, Adam, Colin, Nicole and Dylan, great-grandchildren John and Mason. As well as extended family members Kevin Baggett, Hyon McDermott, and Brian Becker. A memorial and celebration of his life is planned for after the new year.
