Rev. Gerald (Jerry) Lee Nichols, a true servant of God, died at the age of 87 at his home in Richardson, Texas on Monday, April 12, 2021. Born on April 25, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, Jerry graduated from Concordia Seminary and was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 1960.
Pastor Nichols served in and planted churches throughout Texas until his retirement in 1998. Still servant-minded, Jerry dedicated his retirement years by being active with children's and disability ministries, Silver-Haired Legislature, Leadership Richardson, Senior Awareness Days, Nursing Home visitations, church planting, Children's Medical Center, state and local politics, and homeowner's association. Dearest to his heart was ministering to families as a Chaplain at Methodist Richardson Medical Center for the last 8 years, logging over 4,200 hours.
Survivors include his beloved wife Rose of 68 years, son Daniel, daughter and son-in-law Joe and Danette (D) Murphy, and grandchildren Elijah and Mackenzie.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church 1801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas.
