Gerald "Jerry" James Lauther of Hebron, NH, January 2, 2022. Born in Parkland, PA, Jerry earned a degree in Criminal Justice at Camden County Community College and in 1964 joined the NJ State Police, 19 years with the Bureau of Narcotics. As Lieutenant, he supervised the Central Region of the Narcotics Bureau and later oversaw the Southern Unit of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Jerry received the State Police Distinguished Service Medal for risking his life in a raid on a major meth lab during which a Narcotics detective was fatally shot. He retired from the State Police in 1991 and subsequently worked for a pharmaceutical company. While in the Narcotics Bureau, Jerry worked with his future wife, Ileana N. Saros, then Deputy AG with the Division of Criminal Justice. Romance came years later. In 2006, they retired, married and relocated to NH where they golfed, fished, hiked, kayaked, snowshoed and cross-country skied. They enjoyed ballroom dancing and cooking. They traveled to Greece, South America and Southeast Asia. Jerry was an avid amateur water colorist. Jerry's four children share memories of a devoted father. He is survived by wife Ileana; twin daughters Darcy Drechsler (Paul), Laurel Springs, and Denise Ryder (Michael), Blackwood; son Gerald J. Lauther, Jr., (Linda), HI; daughter Heather Hernandez, FL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Ramos (John), CA, and sister-in-law Catherine Lauther, CA. First grandchild, Steven Lauther, and three brothers Jack (Lottie), James (Marion) and Richard predeceased him.
