Gerald "Gerry" Emmet Grady, 79, of Manchester, NH, died October 14, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Manchester, NH on February 6, 1942, he was the son of Francis and Agnes (Healy) Grady.
Gerry attended McDonald grammar school and graduated from Bishop Bradley High School, Class of 1959. He received a bachelor's degree in history from St. Anselm College in 1963.
He went on to serve as a second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965. Soon after, he began teaching in the Manchester Public Schools. In 1983, he earned a masters degree in education from Rivier College. Later, Gerry began a thirty-year career with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2009.
To say that his family was the center of his life would be an understatement. In his Irish way, Gerry never left a story untold. He had a great imagination and was able to get away with a few embellishments, always with a broad smile and laughter. He enjoyed singing all the "old songs" and playing piano. He found humor in all things, even in humor towards himself. He was loving and caring to a fault towards one and all especially his grandchildren. He will be surely missed.
Family members include his wife of fifty-seven years, Sylvia (Hebert) Grady; two daughters, Laura Fahey, and her husband, Craig, and Christine Pratte, and her husband, John, all of Bedford; his grandchildren, Madeline, Annemarie, Nicholas, and Jake; his sisters, Anne Gilman and Mary Panarese, and her husband, Joe. He was predeceased by his first daughter, Colleen Grady in 2008; and his first grandchild, Johnathan Pratte, in 1995.
