Gerald R. Fisette, 93, loving husband of Betty Fisette, died on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on December 26,1927, he was the son of the late Elie and Florence (Courchesne) Fisette. He had resided in Meriden for most of his life and attended Meriden schools. Mr. Fisette was employed by the Meriden Fire Department retiring as a Captain after 25 years. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy as Seaman 2nd Class. He was stationed in Hawaii and prior to the end of the war he was stationed in China assigned to an LC Support ship. He had enlisted at 17 years old and served until 1948 then returning to Connecticut. He enjoyed camping with his wife in their younger years as well as square dancing. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling. They had a pool in their backyard where their grandchildren learned how to swim. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by his four children, Cynthia Marie Loucks and her husband Dean, Michael R. Fisette and his wife Mariann, Steven J. Fisette and his wife Robin, and Richard C. Fisette; his seven grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Carrie, Rebecca, Andrew, Cypress and Jeremy; and his seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abby, Ashton, Dylan, Lushia, Phoenix and Zepher. He also leaves behind many cousins.

There will be a private Mass of Christian Burial in Gerald's memory at Our Lady Queen of Angels, St. Joseph Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden.
