Georgia Elizabeth Summers, 89, of Midland, Texas passed away from this life on October 3, 2022 at home, with her loving family by her side. Georgia was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Agnes and Michael Zarifis on October 9, 1932. She graduated from High School in 1950 and soon after started working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved West to Arizona to be closer to family and then to El Paso, Texas. She met her husband, L. Hugh Summers, in El Paso and they married on August 4, 1962. They lived in El Paso, Texas and raised their three daughters for over 20 years before moving to Midland, Texas in 1982. Georgia was a devoted wife and mother. She was a loving caregiver and had a great sense of humor. She was spunky and loved adventure. Georgia was relentless in her encouragement for her children and grandchildren, as well as anyone she knew. Georgia donated her time and talent in the community as well. She was very involved in the education of her children and volunteered as head room mother and was an active member in the PTA. She was a devout Catholic and was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Georgia enjoyed her hobbies which included quilting, making jewelry, ceramics, camping and gardening. She truly enjoyed gardening and shared that love with her daughters. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and was involved with the Airstream group, South Plains Unit, and served as Vice President of the International Club. Georgia will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Georgia was preceded in death by her Husband, L. Hugh Summers of 48 years, her brothers, John and Paul Zarifis, parents Agnes and Michael Zarifis, her sisters-in-laws, Carol Lazenberry, and Patsy Owens, Brother-in-laws, Daniel Lazenberry, William Summers, Murrell Summers, Dean Owens, as well as many life-long friends. Georgia is survived by her daughters Agnes Yahl and her husband Michael, Peggy Smith and her husband Brady, Patty Pisklak and her husband Joe, grandchildren Bobby and Brandon Glossop, Kavon Sharifi, Georgia, Kate, and Gwyn Pisklak, as well as, many beloved nieces and nephews. Rosary will be at 7pm on Thursday, October 6th, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, Texas with Msgr. Larry Droll officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park of Midland. Arrangements are entrusted to Willowbrook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CASA of West Texas. The family of Georgia wish to extend our deepest appreciation for the kindness and tenderness given to our mother through the years including Hospice of Midland and all of our extended family and dear friends who have supported us through this difficult time.
