Georgia E (Seltrecht) Karash, 83 years young, resident of Oak Forrest, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord, March 29, 2025. She passed away from a sudden unexpected illness in Northwestern Medicine Palos Heights, Illinois. Georgia was born September 29, 1941 in Cheyenne, WY.
Her parents: Richard Paul Seltrecht, Dorothy Bernice (Henry) Seltrecht. Marriages: December 7, 1958, First Christian Church Cheyenne, WY. to Edward Glen Snyder. Second marriage July 24, 1984, Silver Bells Chapel Reno, Nevada to Jerald Lee Karash.
She attended Elementary, Junior High and High school in Cheyenne, WY. Beauty Culture Diploma, Ricky's School of Beauty Culture. Joliet, Illinois, January 9, 1969. AA degree, Western Wyoming College, Rock Springs, WY., 1974.
Georgia is a member of the First Christian Church in Cheyenne, WY. She was baptized in 1951.
Georgia volunteered on the Cheyenne Frontier Days ticket committee for years, earning a certificate in 1991. She was an educational volunteer for over 30 years in the Oak Forrest, Illinois area. She loved her little 1st and 2nd graders and they loved her. In 2015 she was recognized with a Honorary Life Membership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. She earned several achievements awards, Honors, Certificates, and Recognitions, too numerous to mention.
Georgia enjoyed traveling, shopping, talking on the phone, reading, studying history, and teaching. Mom was not much into dusting or deep cleaning and would often tell me so. She would rather be out working in her yard or gardening. Now she has a much nicer garden to garden in!
Survived by her children: Brigett L. (Snyder) Arista, Rock Springs, WY, Teresa A. (Snyder) Bentley-Yenne, husband Harold J. Dubios, Wyoming, Edward G. Snyder, Rock Springs, WY. Grandchildren: Michael J. Bentley, SeLinda A. (Arista) Mols, husband, Rex, DeLuvia D. (Arista) Griffen, YoLanda E. Arista, Serjio R. Arista, Shanaye B. Stewart, wife Megan. Several great grandchildren.
Sisters: Edith (Seltrecht) Wallis, Laura (Seltrecht) Watson. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was Preceded by: Husband, Jerald Lee Karash, Grandson: Mario A. Arista Jr., Sisters: Reva (Seltrecht) Tanton, Dixie Ann Seltrecht, Son in-laws: Michael J. J. Bentley, Mario A Arista Sr.
Services will be held Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 1:00 PM at First Christian Church, 219 W 27th street, Cheyenne, WY.
Chaplain Stanley Davis will be officiating the service.
