Georgeann Carter (Lee), 64, of Whitehall, Ohio, transitioned on Sunday, May 29th, 2022. Georgeann, affectionately known as “Georgie” or “Joy,” was born on June 28th, 1957, to the late Norma Jean and James Lee, Sr. She was raised in the Mt. Vernon Ave. neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, and was a proud East High School graduate.
After graduating with a degree in Social Work in the late seventies, she embarked on an enriching career within the state’s Job and Family Services welfare department. She then served as a director and consultant for many local early childhood development programs. In retirement, she pursued an additional degree and worked in church and community center administration.
Georgeann had a welcoming spirit and a refreshing personality. She was caring, kind, witty, and known for her incredible sense of humor. She was an avid and skillful crocheter who loved sharing her hand-crafted creations with everyone.
Georgeann was predeceased by her parents and siblings; James L. Lee, Jr., and Ronald E. Lee.
Left to remember her legacy are her children; Paula J. Carter and Paul G. Carter, Jr.; her beloved Godson, Michael J. Mayfield, and wife, Tamara. Her siblings; Rodney and William Lee. In addition to a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, greats, and her cherished life-long sisterhoods.
