George Walter Wilson, Sr., 87, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 28, 2021.
George was born December 15, 1933 in Barker, New York, a place he was passionate about and loved dearly. He was one of five children.
As a young man, he excelled in both baseball and basketball at Barker High School, but soon after graduation proudly began serving our country in the United States Air Force, where he earned numerous military awards. George served the country for more than 30 years.
George was happily married to Mary Patricia (Barnum) Wilson for 67 years and started a family that included five children. Family was everything to him, and George was the centerpiece that held it all together.
A strong man of faith, George was a founding parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia.
George is preceded in death by his brothers Frank and Larry Price.
George is survived by his wife Patricia as well as his five children: George Wilson, Jr. (Kathy), Mark Wilson (Wendy), Theresa Kotch (Mark), Cathy Taylor Knott (Calvin), and Sheila Valk (Tim).
George is also survived by his brother Tim Wilson and sister Beverly Elmer.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Chris Wilson (Teanna), Amanda Kotch Berry (Stephen), Michael Kotch (Tessa), Jennifer Wilson Wick (John), Hillary Wilson (Bubba), Amy Kotch Newton (Greg), Ryan Wilson, Kacey Wilson Rogers (JP), Austin Valk (Julie), Brett Valk, Candace Taylor Sigler (Matthew), Mason Valk (Colby), and Jordan Valk.
George is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
An intimate closed service was held for immediate family Saturday, January 30, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. A full military service will take place on a later date.
