George Mark Susich passed away in Henderson, NV on September 9, 2020 at age 94. Born in Rock Springs, WY on September 4, 1926 to George and Antonia Kruljac Susich he was married to Donna Hagemeister Susich for 54 years until she died in 2014. The second of four siblings, his parents, wife and siblings all proceeded him in death. From simple beginnings in coal country, his devout Roman Catholic family embraced God, hard work and the grand Wyoming outdoors.
He was a Navy veteran of WWII, briefly attended University of Arizona, but graduated from University of Wyoming, Laramie in 1952 with a Petroleum Engineering degree. He began his lifelong petroleum career with Mountain Fuel then was hired by Marathon Oil where he spent 39 years in oil exploration living in Findlay, OH; Brisbane, Australia; Anchorage, AK; Cork, Ireland; and Middlesex, England; before moving stateside to finish his career in Findlay and Houston, TX.
Father and dad to three children: Mark (Lisa) of Hockley, TX; George (Elizabeth) of Phoenix and Michael of Henderson. He was an avid fisherman he raised his boys to also appreciate the outdoors and being active. When home with the family he enjoyed tennis, golf and cribbage. In retirement he and Donna lived in Missoula Montana, Anchorage and Henderson. In his later years he found pleasure golfing, cooking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his three sons, two daughters-in-laws and three granddaughters Alexandra, Gabrielle and Nina. He was dearly loved.
George was interred with his parents and sister Anna Susich Tomlin in the Susich family plot on June 1, 2022 in Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
