George R Stephenson, 85, of Pocomoke City and formerly of Bowie, MD, passed away at home May 12, 2021. Born on April 28, 1936 in Washington D.C., he was a son of the late Quintin Stephenson and Ida Nell Pagan Stephenson.
He graduated from Bladensburg High School and then started his career in printing with the U.S. Government retiring after 29 years as a Printer Journeyman. He then started a second career as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Grand Lodge, A.F.& A.M. of Maryland, Patuxent No. 218, A.F & A.M. in Upper Marlboro, MD.
George is survived by three sons, George R. Stephenson, II of Pocomoke City, MD, Neil D Stephenson of Greensboro, NC, and Paul L. Stephenson of Greenville, NC; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Bateman and Amy Stephenson both of Pocomoke City, MD; one brother, Robert L. Stephenson and his wife Shirley of Lanham, MD; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth D. Stephenson; one son, Andrew Stephenson and two brothers.
At his request, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
