Help us celebrate George! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember George.
George H. Romania, 65, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on his favorite day of the year ? Christmas ? Wednesday, December 25, 2024, with his family by his side. An inspiration to all, he battled multiple system atrophy (MSA) for nearly a decade, living life to the fullest up to his final day. He was the beloved husband of 37 years to Denise Minore Romania. George was born in Rutland, Vermont, on September 19, 1959, the son of the late Jerome and Greta Streeter Romania. Raised in Vermont, George loved the outdoors. He learned to hunt as a young boy and, as an adult, enjoyed hunting expeditions all over the country with treasured family and friends. He was also knowledgeable about all types of antiques, working weekends with his Dad at estate sales and antique shows throughout his life. As a sports enthusiast and former athlete of rugby, football, baseball, basketball and golf, George adored his Red Sox and New York Jets (even when they disappointed him). However, George's favorite sporting events were those of his children ? if he wasn't coaching their games himself, you could find him cheering on the sidelines. No matter what, he never missed a single one of their football, baseball or soccer matches. A history buff and avid reader, George was a lifelong learner, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College and his Juris Doctor degree from the former Bridgeport School of Law. He practiced as an Attorney for 34 years, owning and operating his own firm, Law Offices of George H. Romania, for 29 years. In 2019, he was proud to have his son join the firm; and upon his retirement in July 2021, he continued to work alongside his son until two days before he passed. Most of all, George was a man of faith and family. He savored every moment of family time, and shared so many laughs with his grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally. He was the loving father of George H. Romania, Jr. (Brooke) and Kathleen Romania (James Burt). Proud grandfather of George III and Grace. Brother of Jerome Romania, Jr. (Suzanne), Tony Romania (Mara), Carrie Crepeault (Bill), Tia Delisle and Carmella Romania. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
