George Reasor, 90, died on March 12, 2021 surrounded by his family at the Southern NH Medical Center. He was born in Peru, Indiana. He served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge aircraft carrier during the Korean War. In the Navy, he made many life-long friends and developed a pride in military service. He attended Valparaiso University and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, preparing him for a long career in technology just as the country was entering the space race. In 1967, as a member of the Apollo XIII Mission Operations Team, George received a Presidential Medal of Freedom for the efforts which transformed a potential tragedy into a dramatic rescue.
George met his beloved wife Viola Coker, they married and started a family. His career took him all over the county eventually settling in North Andover, MA. He was a dedicated father and devoted husband. George retired from Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Boston, where he worked on the space shuttle. After the death of his wife, Viola, he moved to Southern NH and stayed active in veterans organizations, including being elected commander of the Salem VFW Post 8546 and enjoyed flea markets. In NH, he met and married his second wife, Pat Conroy. He and Pat shared many laughs, dining out and getting together with friends and family.
George was predeceased by Viola, his beloved wife of 35 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife Pat; son Alan, son Eric and wife Lonni, son Gary and wife Kimberly; grandchildren Caitlin, Andrew, Jaden, Daniel and Aubree.
Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, masks and social distancing are required. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A funeral service will follow Friday at 12:00pm in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, 177 Salem St, North Andover, MA.
