George I. Poorbaugh Jr., 97, of Garrett, died Feb. 12, 2021 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Sept. 12, 1923 in Fairhope, son of George I. Sr. and Violet (Butler) Poorbaugh. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Jennie Marker, daughter Carole Beattie, son Robert Poorbaugh, grandson Nathan Poorbaugh, and son-in-law Danny Wingo. Survived by children: Gary (Twila) Poorbaugh, Sally Wingo, and Barbara (Philip) Muzina; grandchildren: Georgene (Robert) Kreger, Christine and Melissa Poorbaugh, Shawn (Rachael) Poorbaugh, Stephanie (Ed) Faidley, Erica Wingo, and Gabrielle and Logan Muzina; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Susan Poorbaugh. He was a dairy farmer, a supervisor for Agway Pole Building, and a driller at Penn Pocahontas Coal. He was an avid hunter, who took many trips out west and to Canada. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, traveling, and his biggest thrill spending time with his family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Masks and social distancing are required.
