GYSGT George A. Masud USMC, Ret., 88, passed away October 12, 2014. He was born on November 20, 1925 in Warren, RI to parents Charles and Matilda Yeamen Masud. Mr. Masud was a gunnery sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 26 years of faithful service to his country. During that time, he proudly served his country as a highly decorated WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam veteran. He was honored as being an inaugural member and Crew Chief of Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), where he was responsible for the safety and transportation of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Vice President, Cabinet members, and VIPs. He was also distinguished as a three time recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary combat heroism with his fellow comrades.
