George KoberJuly 18, 2022George Kober, 58, of Orange, CT, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.George was born in New Haven on November 6, 1963, to the late Francis Kober and Mary Zambrano Kober. He grew up in the Morris Cove section of New Haven at a time when kids left home in the morning and didn't come back until the streetlights turned on. George graduated from Richard C. Lee High School in 1982 where he excelled in both hockey and baseball. A carpenter at New England Stair Company for 22 years, he was an avid fisherman, golfer, and instigator of many spontaneous wiffle ball games in the Kober backyard over the years. He enjoyed sharing these activities with friends and family, and he never met a stranger, at least not for long.George is survived by his wife of 32 years Sheryl Pirolo Kober and his children Haley Elizabeth Kober (fiancé Frank Norosky) of Mystic, CT, and Evan James Kober of Orange, CT, whom he left with his love of sports and the Boston Red Sox and the many happy memories from their family adventures together. He also leaves his sisters Caroline Davis (Alan) of North Haven, Frances Ghidini of Wallingford, Virginia Haynes (Jeffrey) of Branford and Elizabeth Ghidini (Robert) of East Haven to tell their uncontested versions of stories about their much-loved brother and his childhood shenanigans.George will be remembered by his mother-in-law Margery Pirolo and brother-in-law Joseph Pirolo Jr. (Lisa) both of West Haven as well as many nieces and nephews who enjoyed fun times and laughter with Uncle George. He will also be missed by Zuri, his best friend and dog.He is predeceased by both his parents, his brother-in-law Frederick Ghidini and father-in-law Joseph Pirolo, Sr.Family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green on Savin Ave. in West Haven on Friday, July 22.A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 11 a.m. at Orange Center Cemetery, on Orange Center Rd. in Orange, CT.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, even by Yankees fans, to The Jimmy Fundhttps://www.jimmyfund.org (https://www.jimmyfund.org)
