George Carlton Hudson, age 86, of New Bern, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Born on November 21, 1937, in Black Jack, NC, Carlton lived a life of dedication, humor, and kindness. His journey took him from the small town of Black Jack to becoming a beloved figure in New Bern, where he served the community as a Master Barber at Service Barber Shop. In his later years, Carlton enjoyed the company of family and friends who cherished him deeply.
Carlton was a man of great pride and work ethic, known by his friends for his quick wit and infectious laughter. His commitment to his craft and his genuine care for others reflected his profound impact on those around him. His ability to brighten any room and bring joy to those in his presence was truly remarkable.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia White Hudson; his children, Gary Carlton Hudson and Carla Hudson Marshburn (Mark); four grandchildren, Gregory Hudson, Patrick Wagner (Melissa), Caroline Marshburn, and Sydney Rossi (Anthony); and one great-grandchild, Wyatt Wagner. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Hudson (Ida Lynn) of Black Jack, and mourned by numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hudson of Black Jack, NC; his brothers, Larry Hudson, Jr. and Melvin Hudson; and his sister, Sarah Hardee.
A memorial service celebrating Carlton's life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family invites all who knew him to join in honoring his memory and sharing stories of a life well-lived. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Cotten Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest following the service at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Colonial Capital Humane Society, 1860 Old Airport Road, New Bern, NC 28562, in Carlton's honor.
George Carlton Hudson's legacy of love, integrity, and humor will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
