George B. Gozda, 79, of Meriden, passed away on February 12, 2021 after a hard fought battle due to complications from Covid-19. He is survived by his daughters: Deanne O'Leary and her husband Daniel of Ashford, CT, Anita Gozda of Meriden, and Marlene Christopher and her husband Jason of Wallingford; grandsons: Jeremy Gozda and Travis Christopher; and long-time companion Carol Yaskaski of Wallingford.
Having been a carpenter by trade, he was a member of Carpenters Local 24. His passion for carpentry led him to projects for family, friends, and many others. His favorite hobby was fishing, whether with family or friends. Another pastime was playing cards. But most of all, George loved spending time with family. He especially enjoyed celebrations involving food, drink and traveling. Known fondly as "Pop" by his grandsons, he relished treasure hunts, adventures, fishing, kayaking, and games of all sorts. He lovingly offered a wealth of knowledge and wisdom; and of course, he will greatly be remembered for his iconic stories, hilarious pranks, and crazy jokes.
Friends are invited to visit with George's family on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Masks and social distancing policies to be observed. Interment will be private.
