George A. Fieffer Jr., 68, a lifelong Meriden resident, passed away March 24, 2022 after a valiant battle with cancer. George was the son of the late George and Barbara (Cashen) Fieffer Sr.
He graduated from Maloney High School and went on to get his Automotive Technician Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. For over 35 years, George was employed as a Mechanic Auto Technician for the U.S. Post Office.
George is survived by his brother, James Fieffer and his wife Cathy of CA; his cousins, Raymond Fieffer and his wife Mary Ann, Joanne Camera and her husband Ralph, Michael Fieffer and his wife Amanda and their son Kielan, his godson, Kevin Fieffer and his wife Amanda and their daughter Cora Mae. George also leaves behind his childhood friends, Chris and Sue Roddy and Pete and Pam Savejs, who cared for him throughout his illness, along with their children who knew him as Uncle George, and his godchild, Ellen Murtha. He also leaves behind his yellow 1966 Chevy Nova Super Sport, that he lovingly restored.
George loved exercising with his S.I.N. gym friends. He enjoyed playing golf in several leagues, and especially enjoyed weekly golf games with his golf buddies. George loved meeting new people, dancing and traveling, especially cruising. His traveling companions, including Linda Yelmini, another special friend, took bets on how many people he'd make friends with before the cruise ended. George was easy-going and sociable - to know him was to love him. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
The family wishes to thank the Berlin office of Companions and Homemakers for the excellent care he was given by all his caretakers, especially Tabeeta and Sophia, and Dr. Gerald Fumo and his APRN, Kristi Dubey.
