Help us celebrate George! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember George.
George Edward Dudley (Eddie) passed away peacefully in his sleep and entered into eternal glory surrounded by his ever present loving family November 1, 2021, in Boerne, Texas, after a courageous two and a half year battle with stage four colon cancer. Eddie was born to George William Dudley and Julia Gonzalez Dudley, on December 14, 1953, in Harlingen, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Olga Garcia Dudley; mother, Julia Gonzalez Dudley; sisters, Cynthia Cobarrubias (Joe) and Jeannie Dudley; daughters, Robbie Beth Zapata (Isaac) and Pattsy Hernandez; grandchildren, Zachary, Zoey and Zaylee, Armando; and great grandchild, Emilio. He is preceded in death by his father, George William Dudley. Eddie graduated from La Feria High School in 1973 and following in the footsteps of his father quickly became a master plumber. He was also a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 823. Eddie met the love of his life and best friend, Olga Garcia Dudley, and they married on October 28, 1989. They delighted in every moment during their 32 years of marriage together. They enjoyed the simplicity of life and spending time together, with family and friends in the backyard of their home around a fire pit talking, listening to music and planning the next gardening or home project they would tackle together. Eddie's wife, daughters and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Eddie's bravery, strength, love, laughter, kind spirit, hard work ethic, absolute selflessness and zest for life will live on through them. Eddie was always a family man and prioritized his family above everything else in life. Anyone who knew Eddie would tell you he was a hard worker, a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, one of a kind, had the heart of gold, was easy to get along with and easy to love. Special thanks to cousins Bridget and Robin Bergmann, who helped in immeasurable ways during his courageous battle and his journey home. A very special thank you to Dr. Hanni Saliah, his incredible nurses and entire clinic staff at the START center for their exceptional loving care and support during his two and a half year battle with cancer and in his final days. Dr. Saliah's extraordinary care meant so much to him and his family. Thank you to Alamo Hospice in Boerne. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
