George T. Burke, 76, passed away peacefully, from multiple health issues, surrounded by family on February 20, 2022. George lived most of his life in Hubbard, Ohio, and was a 1963 graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown. George retired from Sharon Steel after 30 years of service and spent the next 20 years as owner/operator of Geo Home Repairs. In 2010, to be closer to family, George moved with Kathryn, his wife of 55 years, to Tallmadge, Ohio. George attended Faith United Methodist Church in Brimfield. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do with his grandchildren was teaching him how to fish and baiting countless fishing hooks for them. He could build and repair just about anything and loved passing his knowledge onto his children and grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Jean Burke, and his brother, David Burke. George is survived by his wife, Kathryn; son, Michael Burke; daughters, Paula (Joe) DiVencenzo of Tallmadge and Wendy (Bob) Hogan of Brimfield; grandchildren, Joey, Mia, Trent, Taylor, and Tristan; puppy Hershey; sisters, Regina (Joe) McAbier and Elizabeth (Tom) Notman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, Ohio, 44278 (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle). Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Rd., Kent, Ohio, 44240 with Pastors Karen and Don Upson officiating. Internment will take place privately at Crown Hill Cemetery.
