George William "Bill" Bodmer, of Apex, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on March 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bill, a native of Aldie, Virginia, was born on August 22, 1932 to the late, John Perry and Eva Mae Bodmer. Bill served in the U.S. Army as a motor pool Sergeant and while stationed in Germany met his wife "Inge." Bill and Inge were married for 66 years. Bill dedicated his life to his passion as an auto mechanic and business owner of Dulles Exxon in Chantilly, Virginia for over 30 years. Bill loved attending NASCAR races at Daytona and building and racing stock cars. Bill dedicated his life to hard work and caring for his wife and family which enabled all of his children and grandchildren to lead accomplished lives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Sally Bodmer Furr and husband Wilbur "Billy" Furr and sister-in-law Ruthie Bodmer.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ingeborg Bodmer; daughter, Julia Bodmer Edwards; sons George "Bill" Bodmer and Robert "Bob" and wife Mary Bodmer along with his four grandchildren; Gracie, Michael, Sarah, and Julia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the animal shelter at www.spcawake.org
