We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of patriarch, friend, and patriot Command Sgt. Maj. George Joseph Archuleta. Born on October 22, 1947, to parents Jose and Alice Archuleta, George made his final journey home at 75, on August 18, 2023. George was a true patriot. Drawn instinctively towards service, he made his mark in the U.S. military, dedicating 24 exceptional years to the U.S. Army. His service record, notable for its integrity and distinction, spanned both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm, culminating in his retirement as a Command Sergeant Major. His journey with the armed forces did not end there; he continued serving, spending ten further years in the Civil Service.
Adaptability, curiosity, and a deep love for his country drove George to learn five languages while traversing the globe. Along his journey, he formed lasting friendships and left indelible memories everywhere he visited.
Beyond his commitment to duty and flag, George found life pleasures simple yet abundant. He enjoyed fishing expeditions and extensive travels. His knack for building with his hands, dabbling in landscaping, or simple backyard BBQs were joys he particularly cherished. A true Alabama and Broncos fan, he also reveled in sports.
George's legacy extends beyond his service and pastimes. As a devout Masonic Mason and Shriner, he worked tirelessly to raise funds for the Cancer Society. Guided by his faith and principles, he instilled the virtues of faith, love, and charity in his children. Known to offer a home to the homeless and a meal to the hungry, he was a beacon of generosity. His light personality, natural storytelling, and infectious laughter rendered him the energetic nucleus of any gathering. Predeceased by his father, Jose, and brother, Danny. George's memory lives on through his wife, Deborah; his children, Rosalinda and Jose, Genoveva and Maurice, Maria Del Carmen, Tracey, Bubba, and Bessie; his mother, Alice; siblings, Gene, Salvador, Julia, Terry, Jerry, Alice, Alex, and Ricky; and a collective of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lewis Funeral Home Navarre Chapel, 7794 Navarre Parkway Navarre, Florida 32566, on Friday September 1, 2023, at 11:00am.
In honor of George, or 'Archie' as close friends knew him, the family requests that in place of flowers, contributions be made to the charity Wounded Warriors Family Support, wwfs.org - a fitting tribute to a life characterized by service and generosity.
