Genie B. Ward, 70, a lifelong resident of Aurora, IL passed away on February 20, 2023. She was born on March 6, 1952 in Vicksburg, MS, the daughter of Genie and Joseph A. Ward. Genie worked as a school bus operator for over 40 years in the surrounding Aurora area until she retired from First Student in 2020. Genie is survived by her brother, Gene A. Ward; sisters, Sharon [Brothers] James and Ivy [Ward] Carter; children, Lisa Ward, Curtis Ward, Breena [Ward] Lathan, and Lyndsey [Ward] Jones; her 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Genie and Joseph A. Ward; sister, Marie Bailey; brothers, Joseph Ward and Darryl Brothers; nephew, Ellis Bailey; niece, Mary Bailey; grandson, Jordan Braxton; and great-nephews, Tyriece M. Gordon and Demaszjae Miller. Any donations under Genie's name may be made out to the Ward family. A memorial service will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave, Montgomery, IL 60538.
